COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER – Job Description
THE COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER SHALL :
Develop a communication strategy to students with the approval of the executive.
Liase with the relevant S.U officers to ensure adequate publicity is produced for all Students’ Union events and activities.
Ensure that all publicity is produced bilingual, giving equal prominence to both languages.
Ensure that publicity for all events is distributed in all faculties and departments across the campus.
Where appropriate promote the activities of the S.U to the local community.
Monitor all publicity which arrives in the S.U Office, approve it with the S.U stamp, and display it properly.
Check S.U noticeboards are kept up to date and tidy.
Where necessary liase with the relevant college staff regarding communications with students.
Provide at lease one magazine per week reflecting the contribution of students.
Ensure that material is not libellous or in contravention of the S.U’s Constitution or policy.
Liase with the College on the contents of the S.U’s entry in prospectuses and other publications to students.
With the assistance of the elections committee, produce and distribute the publicity for the S.U’s Elections.
Convene and chair a Communications Committee.
Be an unpaid, part-time officer of the Union, and act as a trustee of the S.U and so sit on the Executive Committee.
